He also always refered to himself by his full name and title. You can also give it scent, darkvision or other abilities you might lack. Give it Independant + Valet and have it hand your wands/potions/scrolls to you in a fight. Independant + Skilled gives you an (admitedly somewhat weak) free Demralize each round. Evil Eye is in fact most likely the best Hex cantrip.
